Coordinator for Planning Berta Sabrio serves St. Francis of Assisi
Parish in Fulton as the full-time Director of Liturgy and Music. In
November she will celebrate her 10th anniversary with
this parish! She has served in similar positions for the past
23 years in the archdiocese of New Orleans, Washington, and
Baltimore. She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Loyola
University in New Orleans with primary studies in voice and
secondary in keyboard. At St. Francis, she conducts 5 choirs
as well as a cantor ministry. Berta has a husband, Dan, and
three children ages 16, 15 and 10! She has been active in NPM
for 20 years and is honored to serve the Baltimore NPM Chapter. Animator of Koinonia Mary Tamplin koinonia@npmbalt.org Mary Tamplin is the Children’s Choir Director at St. John the Evangelist Church, Severna Park, MD. Retired Senior Piano Faculty member of the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, Preparatory School; Founder of the Annapolis Campus of the Peabody Prep, former coordinator of the Annapolis Campus Annapolis Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. Former chair of Adult Studies. Has BA, BMEd and MMed from the Peabody Conservatory; published Application of Learning Theory to private Piano Instruction, performer and accompanist in the Annapolis area, taught at AA Community College; former faculty member, St. John the Evangelist School and the Harbour School: Innovative Learning Center; listed in 1998 edition of Who’s Who Among American Teachers and 1999/2000 edition of Who’s Who among American Women. Current Term ends Spring 2010 Secretary Tom Bozek Secretary@npmbalt.org I have been active in Music ministry as on Organist, Choir Director and Director of Music in the Baltimore area for over 35 years. In September of 2008, I began my 8th year as Director of Music and Organist at Immaculate Heart of Mary, where I direct the Adult Choir, The Boys and Girls Choir, The Resurrection Choir and oversee the Contemporary Music Ensemble, the cantor program of volunteers and professional singers, professional instrumentalists and vocal groups as well as responsibility for the overall music program of the parish and the Liturgical Music Program for the parish school of over 550 students. I began my ministry at St. Jane Frances de Chantal in Riviera Beach while attending elementary school there. I have also served at St. Stanislaus Church in Baltimore, St. Clement I in Landsowne, St. Alphonsus Rodriguez, Woodstock, and Church of the Annunciation in Rosedale as Organist and Director of Music. I served almost 20 years as assistant organist at St. John the Evangelist in Severna Park. I have completed an AA in Mortuary Science from Catonsville Community College, a BBA in Management and Accounting from Loyola College, and have studied music theory and piano with Jack Thames and organ with Marjorie Jovonavic at the Peabody, as well as private studies in organ. I have been a member of NPM for over 20 years currently also a member of the DMD and a founding member of the Baltimore NPM Chapter. I am also a member of the AGO, having served on the Executive Committee and OHS. I look forward to being part of an exciting future for the liturgical musicians and clergy in our Archdiocese enabling us to foster the continued growth of Musical Liturgy together for the benefit of those we serve. Current Term ends Spring 2011 Treasurer Carolyn Weglein treasurer@npmbalt.org Carolyn Weglein began playing organ while a student at St. Mary of the Assumption school in Govans. She continued in music ministry as organist/music director at St. Pius X for 37 years. Currently she is the children's/youth choir director at St. Isaac Jogues and children's choir director at St. Ursula. She also enjoys freelancing as a substitute organist/pianist for many parishes in the Baltimore Archdiocese. She believes that the NPM Baltimore chapter provides wonderful opportunities for prayer, education, and socializing with other music ministers, who often serve in isolated situations.
